Cal has been inspired to write stories set on the Great Barrier Reef because of her deep affection for the reef ecosystem. Cal has lived near the Great Barrier Reef for twenty years and she has gotten to know many of the quirky ‘characters’ that live on the reef.

For much of Cal’s childhood, she dreamed of digging a hole into the Earth and coming out the other side, ready for her next adventure. It seemed obvious to incorporate that exciting idea into the Zoom Barrier Reef Series. Cal’s loveable characters, both real and fantasy, will continue to embark on many more exciting adventures ‘beneath the reef’.
